DL3 Training and my Favorite App

Good Morning,

DL3 training days are always very interesting. There is always something new to learn and new to do. On today, I was introduced to IPEVO whiteboard.  It was an awesome app that requires no set up. Students can write, record videos, insert videos, etc. It is a really awesome way to differentiate learning and to increase student engagement.

Training Update: Last month at DL3 training, I was introduced to ChatterPix and Imovie; well, I tried it in my Child Development class. The students role played Ineffective forms of Child Guidance via ChatterPix and Imovie. They were engaged, collaborated with their group, and they completed the assignment!! I will take that as they really enjoyed the assignment!!!

Stay tuned; more too come😀😀!!

Hello,

On today, I attended the Digital Leadership training. The morning session consisted of 7 mini sessions which introduced new apps that can increase student engagement. The sessions included:

*Keynote
*Thinklink
*HyperDocs
*Imovie
*Adobe Spark Video and Post
*Canva/ChatterPix
*Show Me/Giphy

Of those 7 mini sessions, we were able to attend five-12 minute sessions. I enjoyed learning about the new apps; however I wish the sessions were longer (I can be a little technologically challenged at times, lol)!! I am excited to share this information with my fellow co-workers as well as my students; however it may take me a little longer to implement the new information into my classroom because I need to be proficient before I can explain it to my students!!!!

Week: November 14-18, 2016

Hello Everyone! I am currently a member of the South Garland HS digital leadership team. I have been trying to incorporate more technology into my classes. Throughout this year, I will be blogging about different technology that I am incorporating into classes; things that work and things that didn't work.

On this week, my students created Google Slide presentations to explain their assigned birth defect, which they had to present to the class. The Google Slide presentations were wonderful.  I created a google doc for students to record notes, while their peers were presenting their assigned birth defect. I thought this would be a great idea since the students love to be on their Ipads. The majority of my students stated that they would much rather write their notes, than type during presentations.
